CES 2022: ASUS Beefs Up Flagship with Dual-Lens and AR Innovations

With multiple rumours making its rounds nigh a pair of new ASUS smartphones are set up to appear at this twelvemonth's CES, it's easy to guess what the game programme is for the constantly evolving Taiwan-based smart devices vendor.

While information technology's not nigh putting out a new flagship, information technology certainly will play its role as a market innovator.

Thus, it's no surprise that as soon as CES 2022 rolled around, ASUS confirmed that it had the dual-lens enabled ASUS ZenFone 3 Zoom and Google Daydream and Tango powered ASUS ZenFone AR waiting in the wings.

For the photo-taking focused smartphone, the ASUS ZenFone 3 Zoom, information technology plays up the dual-lens camera feature, offering a 2.3x optical zoom function that pushes the digital zoom to 12x when both 13MP lenses are engaged, TriTech Sensor with PDAF engineering, and the usual bells and whistles of a mid-range entrant. The only key deviation beyond the presence of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 mobile processor and 4GB RAM, is the 128GB storage that is paired with the 2.

The ASUS ZenFone three Zoom supports expandable storage too, of course.

According to ASUS Malaysia, this 5.5in enhanced camera packing smartphone is expected to achieve this part of the world in tardily March 2022.

Since this is CES 2022, it only makes sense for ASUS to have more than one flagship product reveal. Its collaboration with Google Daydream and Tango resulted in the creation of the ASUS ZenFone AR.

Unlike the dual-lens empowered ASUS ZenFone 3 Zoom, this entry engages the still experimental augmented and virtual reality (AR and VR) systems and, for the first fourth dimension, puts them both together onto a single platform. The concept, on its own, sounds pretty comprehensive.

Having Google Tango onboard means the ASUS ZenFone AR has to stone a 23MP rear-facing main camera with a sophisticated sensor assortment that is able to track movement and depth values of the subject that the camera is pointing at. This will permit users to fully immerse themselves with the AR services that Google is expected to introduce in the coming months.

As for Google Daydream, this is ane of the start times the overly complex VR platform is embedded in a proper cease-user device. That means, technically, the ASUS ZenFone AR has to rock top-of-the-line specs. At printing time, ASUS has confirmed that it uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 with 8GB RAM. Nothing else loaded nether the five.7in Quad Hard disk (2560 x 1440px) display has been revealed.

More about this empowered flagship from ASUS will be shared as shortly every bit the hands-on session is done.
